The VoiceMaster at PSICom’s Book Signing in Mystical Rose School of Caloocan

In celebration of National Book Week and English Month, Mystical Rose School of Caloocan held a Book Selling and Book Signing event in partnership with Psicom Publishing. Hundreds of Junior and Senior High students filled the school’s gymnasium to buy their favorite Psicom books, and to meet and greet some of the authors.

The event started with a writing workshop by one of the authors, Melai Quilla, author of the book “Bukas na Lang Kita Babastedin.” Melai shared basic tools and tips on how to create characters and plot for fiction book. She also led the students through some activities to practice their writing skills before the end of the workshop.

After the workshop, a representative from Psicom introduced the authors present for the book signing – Melai Quilla, Bryan Olano (“Mga Hugot Para Sayo”), Marco Pile (“Eh Kasi Mahal Ko Pa”), Youtube sensation Lloyd Cadena (“Eng Serep Megwele”), and Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales (“Gusto Kong Maging Voice Talent”). Each author introduced themselves and had the opportunity to introduce themselves and perform in front of the audience.

Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales came onstage and introduced his book. He briefly explained what voice acting is, and how every person can bring out their talent through his book. The audience were treated to the VoiceMaster’s repertoire of voices – from cartoon characters to famous personalities and celebrities.

During the book signing, the VoiceMaster delighted the students who bought his book by approaching them to sign the book, and to take pictures with them. Dozens of students were entertained and inspired by the VoiceMaster, and look forward to pursuing their voice acting career through the help of his book.

The VoiceMaster Teaches Voice Acting to Animation Students

On November 19, Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales conducted a 3-hour voice acting workshop for the Animation students of iAcademy in Makati City. Over 30 participants attended the workshop to learn about the art of giving life to animation through the use of voice.

The VoiceMaster shared the story of his journey in the voice acting world. He told the story of how he discovered his talent and inclination for the craft, and how it has given birth to his vision to make the Philippines the center of voiceover excellence in Asia. He also talked about the opportunities that await those who want to get in to the industry, as well as the future of voice acting amidst all the technological advancements today.

The VoiceMaster also went beyond the topic of voice acting and also highlighted the importance of voice as the most powerful human instrument. He shared how voice is what makes an animation human, and that voice is what enables us to move the world with our message. The VoiceMaster drove the point home as amazed the audience with a repertoire of character voices that he has done and imitated – cartoon characters, famous personalities and celebritites. He also performed a one-man live radio drama for the participants, and afterwards asked the students to draw the characters that they heard in the radio drama.

The VoiceMaster’s talk was not only informative, but more importantly, a very inspirational one. His story of how he made it in the voice acting industry was not only a testament of his talent, but also of his passion and commitment to be true to the life mission he has discovered for himself. He encouraged the students to identify their life purpose – their calling – and dedicate their life to pursuing and living that calling.

The VoiceMaster Hosts the Launching of Oyayi, the Children’s Show of the Millennial Filipino

The Department of Education, National Council for Children’s Television, and CBN Asia have joined forces to bring a historical milestone to Philippine television – the rebirth of values-oriented TV shows. “Oyayi,” is ABS CBN’s newest children’s program, which airs every Sunday at 9:15am.

The grand launch of Oyayi happened on November 18, at the Mind Museum Exhibit Area. The half-day event was attended by dozens of students from nearby schools, parents, teachers, and honorable representatives from DepEd, NCCT and CBN Asia. The program was hosted by veteran ABS CBN news anchor Jing Castaneda, and Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales.

After an icebreaker and the opening ceremonies, Jing and Pocholo led the audience through a morning of fun and learning. They brought the parents and teachers down memory lane as they talked about the timeless children’s show Batibot, which was a fun source of learning and good values back in the 80’s. Pocholo also amazed the audience as he did sample character voices from the show, as well as the entire ensemble of the Spongebob Squarepants cast!

The kids were in for a treat as one of Oyayi’s characters, Telebobby, led them through a game he called “Dok Pil in Da Blanks.” The game was soon followed by an on-stage interview with NCCT Council Member Mr. Bong Osorio, and Oyayi director Mr. John Valdez Tan. Bong and John shared the vision of the show, and what the audience can expect from the characters and the episodes. After the interview, the audience caught a glimpse of the show with the showing of one of Oyayi’s episodes, which was focused on disaster preparedness.

The highlight of the event soon came as the cast of Oyayi came onstage to meet and greet with the audience, led by Kuya Maki, the main character of the show. They led the audience to the “Oyayi Dance Craze,” which was soon followed by a photo opportunity with the hosts and the cast.

The word “Oyayi” means lullaby in Filipino, and was based on an award-winning story of the same title by Fernando Rosal Gonzales.

The VoiceMaster Speaks about the Power of Voice Acting in Storytelling at the BATA AKO Conference

In celebration of National Children’s Month, BATA AKO PH organized the BATA AKO Conference 2016, held on November 6-8 at the Smallville 21 Hotel in Iloilo City. Hundreds of parents, teachers and students attended the event to learn about various issues affecting today’s children, such as their rights, health and welfare, especially in the age where they are exposed to too much information, too soon. There were also topics discussed in the seminar that tackled children’s media, such as children’s books, animation and television.

Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales graced the event as a panelist and a speaker during the conference, sharing his knowledge about the voice and its importance in storytelling. According to the VoiceMaster, storytelling is a timeless manner of passing on history, tradition, and even moral values from one generation to another. As a youth advocate for 20 years, the VoiceMaster has worked closely with young people and has seen how technology has greatly transformed how children think, learn and behave in their environment. As a Filipino futurist, he also shared his foresight about how technology will continue to evolve, and how the education sector should adapt to these changes.

In his talk entitled “Voice Acting for Effective Storytelling,” the VoiceMaster shared his experience and expertise in voice acting that parents and teachers can apply in storytelling. He talked about the voice as the most powerful human instrument, and how voice acting techniques can greatly improve how one’s story is heard and received. The VoiceMaster also encouraged the audience to tell their story in a manner that will inspire and motivate other people. Of course, the VoiceMaster amazed the audience by demonstrating his voice acting talent through a repertoire of character voices, and by doing a live radio drama, voicing multiple characters!

The BATA AKO Conference’s speaker lineup included Daisy Atienza of National Council for Children’s Television, Tarie Sabido of Philippine Board on Books for Young People, Glory Moralidad of Bata Ako PH, and Rose Gonzales of the Animation Council of the Philippines.

BATA AKO also organized other activities for the month such as a medical mission, storytelling session, games and film showing to celebrate National Children’s Month.

The VoiceMaster Speaks about the Art of Voice Acting at Tuldok Animation’s 11th Anniversary

On October 29, Tuldok Animation celebrated its 11^th anniversary with a free introductory workshop on Stop-Motion Animation and Voice Acting. The workshop was held at the Commune Café + Bar in Makati City, which was attended by over 30 participants.

The voice acting workshop was conducted by Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales. The VoiceMaster told the story of his journey in the world of voice acting – the joys and the pain, the successes and the failures, the good and the bad – and how those experiences ignited his vision to make the Philippines the center of voiceover excellence in Asia. He talked about the Philippine Center for Voice Acting, the first and only voice acting school in the country, which he built to produce a new breed of voice artists who would treat the industry with passion and appreciation, and not just look at voice acting as an easy way to make money.

The VoiceMaster also shared how his school has helped realize the dreams of many aspiring voice artists, not only by equipping them with the tools and techniques to play with their voice, but more importantly, by opening the doors to them of the used-to-be elusive industry. He also shared how voice acting has become a venue for most students to express their creativity, something that their current circumstances seemed to have stifled in one way or another.

After having amazed and amused the audience with a repertoire of character voices and voice imitations of famous personalities, the VoiceMaster also taught the basic principles of how to “act” with the voice, which he fondly calls the “VoiceMaster’s Formula.” He also shared to the audience how the human voice has the power to shape the world we live in, and challenged everyone to be more conscious of how they use their voice in their everyday life.

The knowledge shared by the VoiceMaster during the workshop is also included in his latest book, “Gusto Kong Maging Voice Talent,” which is now available in all leading bookstores nationwide.

The VoiceMaster Motivates Graduating Students at CEU Makati’s Job Hunting Seminar

More than 500 graduating students gathered at the Activity Center of Centro Escolar University, Makati for their annual Job Hunting Seminar, on October 25, 2016. With the theme, “Branding on Campus: Maximizing Career Opportunities,” the seminar aims to help graduating students gain a competitive advantage as they go out to pursue their respective careers after graduation.

The first half of the seminar featured two of the country’s most sought-after motivational speakers of this generation – Pambansang Inspirasyon Lloyd Luna, and Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales.

After an intermission number, the VoiceMaster came onstage to talk about “Personal Branding for Students.” He began his talk with an introduction of what he is doing – as a voice artist, youth advocate, storyteller and a motivational speaker. The VoiceMaster entertained the crowd with his repertoire of character voices, hugot lines and humorous banters.

The VoiceMaster then transitioned to the meat of his talk – about finding one’s purpose in order to establish their brand. He emphasized how important it is to discover one’s passion and purpose, in order for them to do work that is meaningful and not just do work to earn money. He reminded the young people that they are not “young” forever, and that it’s never too late or too early to pursue what they would like to become. The VoiceMaster also told the story of how he, at the young age of 16, discovered his passion for voice acting, which later on became the catapult to establish his brand as the VoiceMaster.

The VoiceMaster also shared his “8 to be GREAT” – or the 8 qualities of people of greatness. He explained that one’s success in his/her chosen career or profession does not rely on how you write your resume, or how you dress up or answer questions during an interview. Rather, being great has to do with building character, so that they don’t just ace their job application, but their career as well.

The VoiceMaster closed his talk with his Pochology: Availability is the best ability. He challenged the students to be open to opportunities for them to express their passion and skills.

The VoiceMaster Inspires UST Marketing Students in their ‘Breakthrough Seminar’

The University of Sto. Tomas Junior Marketing Association held a half-day seminar entitled “Breakthrough 2016” on October 24, 2016 at the Commerce AVR of St. Raymund de Penafort Building. Around 100 students attended the event to learn to build their self-confidence, particularly in the area of hosting and public speaking. The highlight of the seminar were 3 guest speakers who are esteemed in their respective fields when it comes to hosting and public speaking.

Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales was the second speaker on the lineup. In his talk entitled “The Art of Voice Acting in Public Speaking,” he emphasized on the importance of the voice in public speaking. According to the VoiceMaster, the voice is the most powerful human instrument, yet most people never pay attention to how they use it in their everyday lives, much less when it comes to public speaking. He shared his experiences as a voice artist, and even entertained the audience with his repertoire of character voices.

This showcase of voice acting skills was the VoiceMaster’s transition to inspire and motivate the students to appreciate their voice and use it to affect positive social change. According to the VoiceMaster, no amount of public speaking techniques or do’s and dont’s will take the place of speaking from the heart, especially if you’re speaking in front of an audience. He challenged the students to always be intentional in their actions and in life. To the VoiceMaster, as long as you are clear with your intention on why you are speaking in front of the audience, you will not only have confidence, but you will also have a purpose.

The two other speakers in Breakthrough 2016 are DJ and host Angel Jones, and TV reporter Carlo Lorenzo.

The VoiceMaster Inspires Thousands of Students and Teachers at DepEd NIR’s Youth Formation Summit

The Department of Education – Negros Island Region held its fourth Youth Formation Summit, more popularly known as the “Nation of Heroes 4” on October 21-23, 2016 at La Carlota City, Negros Occidental. Thousands of students and teachers from the different schools in the region gathered for 3 days of fun and learning.

With the theme “Batang Bayani: Bahagi Ako ng Pagbabago,” the summit aimed to build the leadership skills and mindset among the Filipino youth.

Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales was invited back to the Nation of Heroes event as one of the speakers on the third day of the summit. He inspired and motivated more than 2,000 students and teachers by teaching them a simplified approach to leadership with his talk entitled “8 to be GREAT.” The VoiceMaster shared the 8 qualities that makes a great leader, which includes passion, persistence, sharing, and love. He challenged the young people in the audience to discover their passion and purpose, and spend their lives expressing it. He even talked about Dr. Jose Rizal as the epitome of Filipino greatness, and shared untold stories about the National Hero. He challenged the audience to become familiar with Rizal’s life and work not for learning history, but to learn and emulate his principles and ideals.

The VoiceMaster also talked about the power of the voice, and how he has used his own voice from when he was young, not only to entertain people but to also inspire and motivate them. He told about his experience starting out young in the voice acting industry, and how he built his reputation in the world of voice by building the first-ever voice acting school in the country, the Philippine Center for Voice Acting. Of course, the VoiceMaster’s talk would not be complete without the proverbial “sample” – which he did by imitating personalities and showcasing the commercials, animation and Koreanovelas he has voiced. He also wowed the audience with a storytelling session where he did cartoon character voices. The VoiceMaster gave the opportunity to volunteers from the audience to showcase their talents.

Nation of Heroes 4 was held in partnership with the Schools Division of La Carlota City, Gaba-an Youth Lead, New Ground Events and PRISAAP.

VOTY Radio Broadcasting Academy Goes to Bacoor, Cavite

On October 21, Voice of the Youth Network’s Radio Broadcasting Academy was conducted for the Communication students of St. Dominic College of Asia in Bacoor, Cavite. About 30 students attended the half-day workshop to learn about the basics of voice and radio broadcasting.

The workshop started with a short but powerful motivational talk from VOTY Founder, Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales. The VoiceMaster challenged the participants to use Broadcasting as an avenue to fulfill their life purpose and inspire their fellow youth, instead of getting into Broadcasting for the purpose of becoming rich and famous. He also talked about discovering their life purpose, and went around the room to ask a few participants their “why” in life.

Up next was VOTY’s Head Secretariat, Ada Cuaresma, who did a mini-workshop on conducting radio interviews. Ada started by sharing about VOTY – its mission and vision, and the radio programs they produce all over the country. She then transitioned into her topic, where she taught the students of the essential elements of an interview. She also discussed the before, during and closing of an interview, and gave the students tools and techniques to effectively conduct interviews on radio.

The interview workshop was followed with a quick lesson on voice, which was conducted by Voiceworx graduates Andrew Miravalles and Romi Jallorina. They talked a little bit about voice acting, and even led the students through a fun activity so that they can experience it for themselves. They also shared their experiences with Voiceworx, and even entertained the audience with their repertoire of character voices.

The VoiceMaster came back onstage to conclude the workshop with more words of encouragement. He invited the participants to become part of VOTY’s radio shows, so that they can also do their part to inform, inspire, involve and empower their fellow youth.

Negosyo Kabataan’s Youthrepreneurship Forum at the 15th Franchise and Business Expo

The 15^th Franchise and Business Expo organized by the Association of Filipino Franchisers Inc. (AFFI) was held on October 14-16, 2016 at the World Trade Center. The expo features hundreds of businesses that are open for franchising or distributorship, and also other businesses that support micro, small and medium businesses in the country.

Part of the expo is a series of talks and seminars that are geared towards helping and empowering Filipino entrepreneurs. One of the highlights of the second day of the expo was the Youthrepreneurship Forum hosted by Negosyo Kabataan, an advocacy group that aims to empower aspiring and existing young Filipino entrepreneurs to create passion-driven businesses. With the theme “Passion + Purpose = Profit,” the forum is a discussion among young entrepreneurs who shared their stories about how they discovered their life purpose and built a successful business out of it.

The forum featured 6 panelists: motivational speaker and author Blasgil Tanquilut, speaker and author JB Borromeo, multi-awarded entrepreur Jhopet Fines, director/producer and life coach Paolo Apagalang, EntrepTV Executive Producer and host Jade Bigay, and language school owner Ezekiel del Rio. They took turns sharing their experiences about growing their businesses, and how their passion helped them overcome the challenges they met along the way. They also shared the lessons that they have learned, and how their journey enabled them to inspire and impact the lives of other people.

Two more entrepreneurs also joined the panelists to share their insights on discovering their passion and purpose – multi-awarded photographer Jophel Ybiosa and A-aicon distributor Christian Leynes.

The forum concluded with inspiring words from Negosyo Kabataan Founder, Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales. The VoiceMaster shared the reason behind his advocacy, and how he also became a young entrepreneur and established his brand in the world of voice acting as a young entrepreneur. He left the audience with a powerful message to shift their mindset when it comes to building a business, from making money to making a difference.

The Youthreprenuership Forum was organized by Voice of the Youth Network and Negosyo Kabataan – both youth advocacy groups founded by the VoiceMaster – in partnership with Milkin’ Corporation, makers of Fiorgelato Ice Cream, headed by its CEO and AFFI Board Member Richie Cuna.

Society of Young Filipino Speakers Conducts Self-Discovery Workshop

The Society of Young Filipino Speakers (YFS) rolled out its first training for members to hone their skills in motivational speaking. On October 10, the first batch of participants attended the Self-Discovery workshop, which aims to help the members to discover and uncover their personal stories, experiences and life lessons that can be used to inspire and motivate others.

The half-day workshop was facilitated by one of YFS mentors, Ada Cuaresma, who handled the first half of the workshop. She led the participants through a series of writing activities where they would write their life experiences and the lessons they learned from those experiences. After some time for self-reflection and writing, the participants took turns to share what they have written during the activity.

Some of the self-reflecting activities included writing what they have learned about leadership, money, happiness and other aspects of life, lessons learned from first-time experiences, and writing thank-you letters to people who have impacted their life in a positive and negative way.

After a short break, YFS founder Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales inspired and motivated the participants on discovering their life purpose, and how they can use their passion and skill to be of service to others. He encouraged them to think of public speaking or motivational speaking as a way to make other people better and happy, and not just as a way to push their own beliefs or interests on others. He challenged their thinking to go beyond the norms of the society, and to believe that they are the creator of their own reality. The participants were left the workshop with a whole new perspective on faith and life.

The Society of Young Filipino Speakers was founded by the VoiceMaster to hone young people to become motivational speakers for their fellow youth.

The VoiceMaster Speaks about Greatness at the AdJMA Marketing Summit 2016

Hundreds of Marketing students filled the Adamson University Theater for Adamson Junior Marketing Association’s Marketing Summit 2016. With the theme “Sprinting Towards Marketing Homerun,” the seminar focused on learning best practices in Marketing and Business from some of the country’s finest CEO’s.

Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales was the last speaker of the event, who talked about the art of Personal Branding in his talk entitled “8 to be GREAT.” After energizing the crowd with a quick icebreaker, he started off with the story of how he branded himself in the world of voice – as a voice artist, radio broadcaster and motivational speaker. The VoiceMaster filled the audience with awe and amazement as he did his repertoire of character voices – from the commercials and shows he has done, to imitating voices of famous personalities both dead and alive.

Pocholo also touched on about the life of Dr. Jose Rizal, whom he believes is one of the greatest Personal Branding experts of the country. According to Pocholo, Rizal is a hero not only because of what he has done for the country, but more importantly, for the ideals and principles that he stood for. Pocholo encouraged the students to learn more about Rizal not only for remembering history, but in order for them to discover their own greatness as Filipinos.

Pocholo tackled the subject of personal branding from an inspirational and motivational perspective. His talk centered around the 8 qualities that makes up a person of greatness and excellence, which he believes everyone has in one way or another. The 8 qualities included passion, faith in one’s self, purpose, and sharing, among many others. Pocholo encouraged the participants to identify their purpose in life, because that is the only way they can truly be happy and successful. He challenged the students to shift their mindset from getting into business for the purpose of earning money, to getting into business for the purpose of serving the world.

The VoiceMaster also shared the stage with a couple of his students, who also inspired the audience with their own talent and personal stories of reaching for their dreams.

The VoiceMaster Inspires College Students of Lopez, Quezon

On October 3, the 5^th Semi-Annual Student Conference of Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Lopez Campus was held in SM Lucena in the province of Quezon. Hundreds of students participated in a morning of fun raffle draws, as well as learning from speakers who were invited to talk in line with the event theme “Fostering competitive edge to the borderless business world.

Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales was the second and last speaker for the event. In his talk entitled “8 to be GREAT,” Pocholo inspired the students to discover and embrace their greatness, and to be an inspiration to their fellow youth. After an energizer and a barage of hugot lines, the VoiceMaster went on to share his story of how he used the power of his voice to pursue his passion not only for voice acting, but to also to inspire, motivate and empower his fellow Filipinos.

The VoiceMaster talked about the voice as the most powerful human instrument, and how it can be used to spark positive social change in the society. He demonstrated how his voice has enabled him to brand himself as the VoiceMaster, not because of the many character voices he could make, but because he has opened the door of the voice acting industry to those who aspire to be part of it. He also told the story of how he became a youth advocate, travelled the world, and discovered his calling to be a motivational speaker.

The VoiceMaster inspired the participants to “do something today that your future self will thank you for.” He spoke profoundly about time and how it should be spent doing something significant, and not let it pass without discovering what they are really passionate about. In the end, he left the audience with his own words of wisdom – his Pochology – that “Availability is the best ability.” He encouraged the audience to make themselves availabe to the opportunities that will enable them to live out their life purpose.

The VoiceMaster Inspires Accounting Students of DLSU-Dasmarinas

On September 30, the Accounting Enrichment Society (AcES) of De La Salle University, Dasmarinas, held its seminar entitled “Speak Up: Communication Skills for Student Development.” The event is geared towards developing the communication skills of Accounting and Finance students of the campus, in order to become confident, effective and competent for the global workforce.

Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales was invited to speak in the afternoon session, renowned for his contribution in training people on the power of voice. In his talk, “Your Voice, Your Force,” Pocholo proves that the voice is the most powerful human instrument, as it can be used to change or destroy lives. He started out by sharing how he has discovered the power of his own voice as a 7-year-old boy who loved listening to radio drama because they didn’t have television in their home in Mariveles, Bataan. His love for voice acting grew as he started imitating voices of cartoon characters, famous personalities, and even his school teachers! Pocholo mastered the art and not only became a professional voice artist, but also built his own voiceover company, and the country’s very first voice acting school, the Philippine Center for Voice Acting.

The audience were met with awe and amazement as Pocholo demonstrated his repertoire of voices – from the commercials and shows that he has lent his voice to, to the famous characters and personalities that he can imitate.

Pocholo’s journey in the industry led him to discover his passion to teach, motivate and empower, making him enter the world of youth empowerment and motivational speaking. He told the audience how, through the use of his voice, he was able to fulfill his mission and desire to make other people better and happy. Pocholo concluded his talk with a challenge to the participants, to discover and fulfill their life purpose, and to “never waste an opportunity to be an inspiration to their fellow youth.”

Creativoices Productions Holds Voice Workshop for Sykes Asia Inc.

Sykes Asia’s Artist Anonymous, in partnership with Creativoices Productions, organized a voice workshop for the employees of Sykes on September 29, 2016 at the Sykes Asia office in Glorietta, Makati. Over 20 participants from nearby Sykes offices, trainers and agents, attended the workshop.

After some introduction and opening remarks, the workshop began with a session on Voice Care, facilitated by Voice Care Philippines’ Executive Director, Ada Cuaresma. She began with facts about how important the voice is especially in the BPO industry, and how voice problems could become a barrier to one’s performance in the job. Ada explained the process of voice production, and also had the participants go through a series of exercises to improve posture, relax the muscles and develop deep breathing. She ended the session with helpful voice care tips, and action planning so that the participants can apply what they have learned.

The voice care session was followed by a training on voice acting, by another one of Voiceworx’s graduate, Andrew Miravalles. In his one-hour training, Andrew walked the audience through a series of exercises to explore the elements of their voice and discover how to use them to create imaginative characters. The participants enjoyed the training as they performed individual and group exercises that enabled them to play with their voice.

The last speaker was Creativoices’ CEO and Managing Director, Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales. Pocholo inspired and motivated the participants to perform at their best and always strive for excellence in performing their work regardless of their role and position in the company. Pochology Academy Inspires Financial Management Students of Wesleyan University in Cabanatuan

Over 500 Financial Management students of Wesleyan University Cabanatuan gathered for the Junior Financial Executives – Wesleyan University Chapter’s Symposium. The event was held on September 28 at the Roof Park of SM City Cabanatuan. With the theme “Financial Insights of the Millennial Generation,” the event focused on raising the level of financial literacy for today’s youth.

The audience were entertained with raffle draws and games in the half-day symposium. The highlight of the afternoon were the invited speakers who inspired, motivated and empowered the participants towards a shifted mindset towards the subject of finances.

Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales was the first speaker, who gave an entertaining yet very inspiring talk about greatness, excellence and passion. He shared his journey to becoming the VoiceMaster, not because of the many voiceover projects he’s done, but for the path he paved for aspiring voice artists through his voice acting school. The VoiceMaster shared how everything he’s done in life is always done with passion more than with the motivation of earning money, and encouraged the audience to do the same. He shared many of his words of wisdom which he calls “Pochology” to encourage the students to discover their passion and purpose in life in order to do work that is meaningful and not just for necessity. Of course, the VoiceMaster amazed the audience with his tirade of hugot lines and sample of character voices and a one-man radio drama.

The second speaker was Ada “The Voice Care Queen” Cuaresma, who spoke about “The heart of personal investing.” Just like her mentor, The VoiceMaster, Ada inspired the audience with a different concept of investing. Her talk centered around investing one’s time, effort and skills in order to discover one’s purpose, improve personal energy, develop healthy relationships and sharpen one’s abilities. Ada also made her presentation interactive with some activities.

The symposium ended with more energized, inspired and empowered Financial Management students of Wesleyan University.

The VoiceMaster Holds Voice Acting Workshop in Saint Paul Manila

On September 26, Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales led his team of trainers to conduct a voice acting workshop for Communication and Advertising students of St. Paul University, Manila. A dozen students gathered for a half-day of in-depth and fun-filled learning on the subject of voice acting.

The workshop started with Ada Cuaresma, Executive Director of Voice Care Philippines and a Voiceworx graduate. She gave a little introduction about the industry of voice acting, about the common misconceptions and the qualities needed to succeed as a voice artist. She then transitioned into a workshop about acting with the voice. Ada gave the students a series of activities to train the students to use facial expressions, gestures, and “human sound effects” like laughs and cries to make their voice acting more natural and believable.

After the last activity, Ada introduced the next speaker, Andrew Miravalles. Andrew is also a graduate of Pocholo’s voice acting school, the Philippine Center for Voice Acting, Andrew discussed the different elements of the voice, and taught the participants how to mix-and-match the different elements of the voice such as pitch and tempo to create different characters. He also gave exercises and role-play activities for participants to practice exploring the range of their voice, and the characters they can create within their range.

Voice of the Youth member and radio anchor Kelvin Lomibao came up next, to discuss about character analysis and how to play with one’s voice for dubbing and animation. Kelvin amazed the audience with a lineup of character voices that he showcased – from famous broadcasters to cartoon characters to celebrities both dead and alive! Kelvin ended his session with a “fun dubbing” activity – where the class was divided into small groups that dubbed excerpts from some famous films and anime.

The workshop ended with words of inspiration from the VoiceMaster. He challenged the participants to take the opportunity to pursue their passion even as young people, and to always follow what their heart desires. He said that none of what they learned from the workshop matters if they don’t use it to make other people better and happy.
