The Pochologist Speaks About Passion-Driven Business in Southern Luzon State University

On March 20, the Business Administration students of Southern Luzon State University in Lucban, Quezon conducted a half-day event entitled “Entrepreneurial Dynamism: Discovering New Angles for Effective Micro-Enterprising.” More than 300 Business and Finance students of SLSU, as well as Senior High students from nearby schools, and some farmers attended the event to learn about Youth Entrepreneurship from their main speaker, Filipino motivational speaker Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales.

After some opening remarks, keynote and a raffle, Pocholo came onstage to talk about the future of entrepreneurship. His talk started at a high energy with an interactive icebreaker and a string of hugot lines to which the audience could relate. He then went on and share the story of his entrepreneurial journey – from starting his voiceover career to building his voiceover company. Pocholo also shared how he built the first and only voice acting school in the country to open the doors of the industry to those who have the passion to master the craft.

Pocholo then transitioned to speaking extensively about Dr. Jose Rizal, whom he considers to be the epitome of Filipino greatness and excellence. He told of stories about Rizal’s history and travels, and encouraged the youth to follow his footsteps when it comes to exploring the world. For Pocholo, traveling is the greatest teacher, that’s why young people should seek and grab opportunities that would allow them to do so.

Pocholo also talked about his struggles and challenges in his journey as an entrepreneur. He shared how he faced rejections and disappointments and how he was able to handle those. He encouraged the audience to see failures as part of the road towards success.

Pocholo then talked about the future of entrepreneurship. As a futurist, Pocholo talked about today’s technology and how it affects the building of a micro-enterprise. He challenged the audience to generate business ideas by discovering their passion and skills, instead of simply finding out what business idea will give them the monetary returns.

Pocholo stepped back for a few minutes to give way to a mini-workshop on finding one’s passion-driven business, which was facilitated by one of his students, Ada Cuaresma. Ada distributed the “100 Talents” handout, where the students identified their passion and skill that they can turn into their own micro-enterprise. She then walked the students through various business delivery methods, and also had the students write their next 3 steps to start on their very own passion-driven micro-enterprise.

The seminar ended with the awarding of certificates and audiences having photo opportunity with the speakers.
