The Pochologist Receives Special Jury Award at the 15th Gawad Tanglaw Awards

The 15th Gawad Tanglaw Awards Night was held at the Tanghalang Haribon of the Insular Life Corporate Center in Muntinlupa on April 25, 2017. It was a night of recognition for TV, print, radio and film personalities and organizations for their exemplary contributions to their industry, including Filipino motivational speaker Pocholo "The VoiceMaster" Gonzales.

Pocholo received a Special Jury Award for his contributions to Youth Media, as the Founder of Voice of the Youth Network – the country’s largest Youth Media organization that informs, inspires, involves and empowers the Filipino youth through broadcasting and ICT.

Since 1996, Pocholo has produced over 20 radio programs all over the country including its active provincial chapters such as Sorsogon, Bulacan, Tarlac, Bataan, Negros Oriental, General Santos, and many more. These radio programs have given young people a voice on issues that affect them, in effect making them agents of positive social change. Through these radio programs, young leaders and youth-oriented organizations are also given the opportunity to promote their events and advocacies.

Voice of the Teachers Receives Special Jury Award at the 15th Gawad Tanglaw

Voice of the Teachers also received a Special Jury Award. This weekly radio show was created by Pocholo in April 2014, with the goal to empower teachers all over the Philippines. It is hosted by passionate and dynamic educators who are also advocates for lifelong learning. Its main anchor, Dr. Rey Samson, also received a Special Jury Award.

Some of the Gawad Tanglaw awardees for this year include Ted Failon for Male Best News Program Anchor, Coco Martin for Best Performance by an Actor (TV Series) for his role in “Ang Probinsyano,” and ABS CBN for TV Station of the Year. The Presidential Jury Award for Best Film Performances were also given to actors Piolo Pascual and John Lloyd Cruz for their role in the films “Dekada 70,” “Hele Sa Hiwagang Hapis,” “Ang Babaeng Humayo,” and “Honor Thy Father,” respectively.

Pochology Academy Hosts Miss Masbate Province 2017 Talent Competition

On April 19, Filipino motivational speaker Pocholo "The VoiceMaster" Gonzales hosted the Ms. Masbate Province 2017 Talent Competition, together with the Voice Care Queen, Ada Cuaresma. Fifteen beautiful and talented Masbatenas vied for the Ms. Masbate Province crown, which was awarded in 2016 to former Pinoy Big Brother “housemate,” Kisses Delavin.

Hundreds of Masbatenos, young and old, flocked to the Mabate Provincial Capitol to witness the Talent Competition. The event opened with the introduction of the candidates and the Board of Judges. Pocholo energized the crowd by showcasing his own talent in voice acting, and doing a repertoire of character voices, as well as voice impressions of famous politicians and celebrities. The crowd was left amazed and in awe as he performed a one-man radio drama from one of the classics, Gabi ng Lagim.

Inspirational messages were shared by Masbate’s Vice Governor, Atty. Kaye Revil, and Congresswoman Olga Kho. Both of them reminded the audience that the pageant is not just a competition, but also a reminder of what it means to be a true Masbateno.

One by one, the Ms. Masbate Province candidates took the stage to showcase various talents. Some candidates performed different kinds of dances, while others did an acting monologue. Other candidates showcased unique talents such as painting, karate and baton twirling. The Board of Judges tabulated the scores to award the top 3 Best in Talent.

The Talent Competition also featured the final walk of the reigning Ms. Masbate Province – former PBB Housemate Kisses Delavin. Pocholo entertained the crowd once more by doing a voice impression of Kuya, as Big Brother is more popularly known.

After her walk, she remained onstage for a quick interview by the hosts. Kisses shared a very inspiring message, on achieving and never giving up on one’s dreams. She also assured the audience that she would always look forward to coming home to Masbate no matter where her dreams may take her. In this tangent, Pocholo also shared his own words of wisdom as a Filipino motivational speaker, and challenged the audience to not only be inspired, but to become an inspiration to their fellow Filipinos as well.

The Ms. Masbate Province 2017 Pageant Night happened on April 21, where the winners were crowned – Ms. Monreal Rose Lagamayo as 2nd Runner Up, Ms. Placer Rose Marie Barrun as 1st Runner Up, and Ms. Uson Vanna Vefsie Discaya as Ms. Masbate Province 2017.

The Pochologist Inspires Masbateno Youth on Passion-Driven Business

On April 20, Masbate Province Vice Governor, Atty. Kaye Revil, organized the Youth Entrepreneurial Summit in partnership with the ASEAN Young Leaders Association Philippines (AYLA-PH). Filipino motivational speaker Pocholo "The VoiceMaster" Gonzales was one of the speakers in this event, which aimed to inspire and ignite the entrepreneurial spirit of young Masbatenos.

Around 100 students, mostly high school students, attended the event to learn more about entrepreneurship. After some opening remarks from Vice Governor Revil, a series of inspirational talks followed. The first speaker was Sinon Loresca, know for being the “King of Catwalk,” and a pride of Masbate. Sinon shared the story of how he overcame struggles and challenges having come from a poor family. He inspired the participants to dream and to believe in themselves, the way he did in order to get to where he is today. A representative from the Department of Science and Technology came up next with a presentation about entrepreneurship and business.

Pocholo came onstage as the third speaker, who spoke about passion-driven business. He told the audience a little bit about voice acting and the industry, and even amazed the audience with his talent by doing an ensemble of voice impressions. Pocholo also talked about his struggles starting out as a young entrepreneur, and how he overcame those challenge to take his business towards success.

Pocholo then shared 3 important lessons he learned as an entrepreneur, to build what he calls a “passion-driven business”. Pocholo inspired the students to think about building a business that serves others, and not just themselves. He challenged the students to go beyond the purpose of making money, to the purpose of giving value to the society with their business ideas. Most importantly, he emphasized the importance of being passionate about one’s business, because passion is the fuel that will compel you to work on your business through good and bad times.

Pocholo’s empowering talk was followed by an inspirational speech from two beauty queens – Ms. International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago, and Ms. Supranational 2013 Mutya Johanna Datul – who shared inspirational messages about inner beauty and overcoming adverisity. The last speaker for the summit was Neil Soria, founder of AYLA Philippines, who spoke about youth empowerment.

The Pochologist Inspires Delegates of the ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Challenge in Malaysia

On April 4, Filipino motivational speaker Pocholo "The VoiceMaster" Gonzales was the main speaker for the ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Challenge 2017, held at the National University of Malaysia in Selangor, Malaysia. Twenty-two teams from 14 universities of 7 ASEAN countries participated in the 10-day challenge, which included various activities including workshops, tours, and pitching competition.

Pocholo’s talk centered around the future of youth entrepreneurship, with a focus on building passion-driven businesses. He started his presentation by sharing his own entrepreneurial journey as a young voice artist, who eventually built not only his own voiceover company, but also the first and only voice acting school in the Philippines. He shared to the audience how his vision to make the Philippines the center of voiceover excellence in Asia enabled him to overcome the challenges he faced as a young entrepreneur.

Pocholo also gave the audience a background of the voice acting industry. He even amazed the audience with his voice acting talent, by doing an ensemble of character voices. He also spoke about his first-hand experience on the politics and monopoly surrounding in the business, and how his voice acting school revolutionized the industry by opening the doors to more aspiring voice artists.

Pocholo’s story became the perfect transition to his main topic on building passion-driven business. Pocholo is a perfect example of how building a business based on one’s passion and skills is the most sustainable way to become an entrepreneur. His inspiring entrepreneurial journey earned him a Go Negosyo award in 2009, and later on became one of their Angelpreneurs. He challenged the participants to go beyond building a business for profit, and to build a business for meaning.

Pocholo spent a few minutes to conduct a mini-workshop to help the participants identify their own passion-driven business. Through a series of activities, he helped the students narrow down their interests and choose the talent or skill that they love to do and would want to be their legacy. He then gave the students practical ways on how they can build their business, and also let the students come up with 3 actionable steps so that they can immediately start their passion-driven business.

The universities represented in the AYE Challenge include Universiti Utara in Malaysia, Universitas Pelita Harapan in Indonesia, Mahasarakham University in Thailand, Yangon University of Education in Myanmar, University of EConomics and Business in Vietnam, and Tarlac University of Agriculture in the Philippines. The winner of the challenge will receive a total prize of RM 22,000.

The Pochologist Moderates Panel Discussion at the Asia Leaders Forum in Davao

TAG Media and Public Relations, in parntership with Elabram Systems Group, joins the celebration of the ASEAN 50 with Asia Leaders Forum, held at the SMX Convention Center in Davao City on March 30, 2017. With the aim to promote the Philippines as the premier business hub, this whole-day event featured talks and panel discussions that centered around commerce, tourism and real estate.

Creativoices Productions Conducts Advanced Voice Acting Workshop for Radio, TV and Animation

Creativoices Productions conducted an advanced voice acting workshop on March 28, at its headquarters in Makati City. The workshop was facilitated by Voiceworx Director Brian Ligsay, and Creativoices CEO and Filipino motivational speaker Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales.

The whole-day intensive workshop was intended for Voiceworx graduates and those with some experience in dubbing and voiceover. Ten participants experienced this comprehensive voice workshop to sharpen their voice acting skills, particularly in dubbing and voiceovers.

The day started with an introduction and an icebreaker, and a motivational talk by the VoiceMaster. He set the mood for the participants to develop a deeper appreciation for the art of voice acting. Pocholo shared the stories of how the industry has grown in his 20 years of being in it, and how their voice acting school has opened the doors to all who used to just dream to become voice artists.

Then came Voiceworx Director Brian Ligsay, who started the intense training with a unique get-to-know-you activity. A thorough discussion about the voice acting industry followed, where Brian gave a high-level overview of voice acting history and trends. The presentation gave the participants a huge awareness on the world of opportunities that await them.

After a quick break, the students went through various voice exercises to improve their breathing, pitch range, and articulation. The exercises prepared them for a mock recording at the latter part of the workshop.



After lunch, the students moved to Creativoices’ recording studio where the workshop continued. Brian shared what the participants should expect as they journey through the voice acting industry. He also gave tips on how they can create their voice demos, behave in auditions and recordings, and a lot of tips to market themselves as freelance voice artists. He also walked them through the various studio equipment that they will encounter inside a recording booth.

The discussion prepared the participants for their mock recording, which was the last part of the workshop. One by one, the participants entered the recording booth to record a couple of voiceover scripts in various genre – commercials, narration, documentary, among many others. Feedback was given by Brian and the class as to how each student can improve their script reading and their vocal quality.

The workshop ended with the participants receiving their certificate of participation, and with a whole new set of knowledge to conquer the voice acting world.
